Saturday, November 30 was a gray day. The sharp wind cut through formal jackets as Bob's friends and family sprinkled his ashes into the Chesapeake. Captain Mike Kristoff doused them with Mount Gay rum and someone tossed Bob's sunglasses into the brine as a chorus of his friends in another boat sang The Marine Hymn.

Five or six boats were in a circle when Maggie played "Danny Boy" on the flute, bringing some to tears as they tossed flowers into the water.

Then Captain Mike cranked up the Jimmy Buffet music to return the mood to something closer to the times they shared with Bob.

Peg sent 10 leis to commemorate Bob's 10 brothers and sisters. The flowers from the EYC memorial were scattered over Bob's ashes.
